Hi! I’m Jess, the owner of The Three Sisters Playroom.
I’m a registered paediatric nurse of 11 years with lots of different experience but my last job was working in the community across the whole of Bradford.
I loved being able to really spend time with families and listen to their worries and help as much as I could. What I love about this job is I get to do the same thing but to so many more people and without sitting in Bradford traffic all day!
In 2023 I became a solo mum by choice (SMBC) to Nancy. We did a few groups while I was on maternity leave but it was obvious there aren’t many places suitable for babies & toddlers where you can also sit and chat or have a drink too! Nursing hours were really difficult to do while being a solo mum and I was relying a lot on family members for childcare. So I made these difficult decision to leave the NHS.
I left nursing in May and opened Three Sisters in July. The idea for Three Sisters is to provide a space for children and adults to interact with each other and use their imaginations! We should teach our kids to dream big!
The Three Sisters is just along the road from the Bronte Birthplace. Although the Bronte sisters’ writing styles aren’t my cup of tea I find it so inspiring that in their time, they dared to challenge social norms to do something they loved. Without being able to use their imagination in childhood, they wouldn’t have been able to write such successful books as adults.
